Anemometers & Wind Speed Meters
Digital anemometers for measuring wind speed, airflow, temperature and humidity — suited to HVAC and ventilation checks, agricultural spraying conditions, outdoor weather monitoring and general field use across South Africa.
Why measure wind speed
An anemometer measures how fast air is moving, and on multifunction models, related conditions such as temperature, humidity or duct airflow rate. That reading matters well beyond the weather forecast: HVAC technicians use it to balance ventilation systems, farmers check it before spraying to avoid drift, riggers and crane operators use it to confirm safe working limits, and sailors and drone pilots use it to judge conditions before heading out. A handheld digital anemometer gives an instant, repeatable number where guesswork used to do.
Cup anemometers
Rotating cups measure open-air wind speed directly, with no probe to aim. Simple, robust and ideal for everyday outdoor readings — see the MT-905V.
Hot film anemometers
A heated sensor on a telescopic probe detects subtle airflow changes, sensitive down to 0.1 m/s. Built for HVAC ducting and cleanroom diagnostics — see the GT8916.
Flow / vane anemometers
A rotating vane on a probe reads wind speed and direction, with temperature and humidity logged at the same time — see the GT8907.

Frequently asked questions
What does an anemometer measure?
An anemometer measures wind speed. Multifunction models also measure related readings such as temperature, humidity, barometric pressure or air flow rate, which makes them useful for weather monitoring, ventilation checks, agricultural spraying conditions and outdoor safety limits.
What is the difference between a cup anemometer and a hot film anemometer?
A cup anemometer, such as the MT-905V, uses spinning cups to measure open-air wind speed outdoors. A hot film anemometer, such as the GT8916, uses a heated sensor on a probe to measure low-velocity airflow indoors or inside ducts, down to about 0.1 m/s, which suits HVAC and cleanroom work.
Which anemometer suits general outdoor and agricultural use?
For everyday outdoor wind speed readings, the MT-905V mini cup anemometer or the GM8910 pocket weather meter cover the typical 0–40 m/s range and are compact enough for daily field use. The GT8907 adds wind direction and air flow rate calculation if you also need vane-based ducted readings.
Can these anemometers measure indoor airflow for HVAC or ventilation checks?
Yes. The GT8907 with its vane probe and the GT8916 with its hot film probe are both suited to ducted and HVAC airflow checks, with the GT8916's hot film sensor giving higher sensitivity down to 0.1 m/s for low-velocity work.
