Bead filter system
Koi pond type bead filters
Bubble bead filter supplied with media and blower. Bead filter media also available separately.
Bead filters contain a light an buoyant media, so do not have the clogging and channelling problems that develop in sand filters.A combination of bead filters and foam fractionators is an efficient particle removal system. Ozone can be integrated into the foam fractionater to maintain top quality water.
The above bead filters come in two model sizes:

Other types of bead filter
Pressure bead filters are closed (pressure) vessels filled with plastic beads. These beads are very close together and form a layer through which the water is forced by a pump. As a result, the dirt particles stick in the beads. If the filters are used for some time, the biofilm (the sticky layer) around the beads becomes thicker, so that finer and finer dirt is caught. The beads also serve to an extent as a biofilter
Size#1 bag bead filter: ponds up to 20,000 liters, 1 bag media
Size#3 bag biofilter: ponds up to 30,000 liters, 1 bag media
Size#5 bag biofilter: ponds up to 50,000 liters, 2 bag media
- The 2 Bag bubble bead is approximately 540 x 540 diameter with a close coupled multiport valve which keeps the foot print down however you still have the backwash pipe on one side using approximately 200mm.
- The 3 bag bubble bead is approximately 620 x 620 diameter but the multiport makes it realistically 620 x 910 with the backwash pipe taking up some more space on one side.
- 5 bag bead filter.
- Blowers and filter media are included
