A LAQUAtwin meter is a pocket-sized, IP67 waterproof water quality meter that integrates the electrode, digital display and sample container into a single handheld unit. Instead of dipping a probe into a beaker, you place a single drop — as little as 0.12ml — directly onto a flat sensor chip and read the result in seconds. HORIBA's LAQUAtwin range covers 10 water quality parameters across 15 individual meters and 3 ready-made kits, for pH, ORP, conductivity, TDS, salinity, and the sodium, potassium, calcium, nitrate and fluoride ions.

How a LAQUAtwin Meter Works
Every LAQUAtwin meter shares the same core design: a replaceable flat sensor, an IP67 waterproof/dustproof body, and a simple 3-button interface for measuring, calibrating and powering the meter. The layout below is illustrated on the pH model, but the sensor, sensor guard, backlight and button placement are the same across the whole LAQUAtwin range.

How to Choose the Right LAQUAtwin Meter
Every LAQUAtwin meter is built around one parameter, so the fastest way to find the right model is to start with what you need to measure, then narrow down by calibration accuracy or sample type.

ORP Meter
The LAQUAtwin ORP-11 integrates the electrode, display and sample container to enable simple, effective on-site oxidation-reduction potential testing from a single drop. ORP is measured with a noble metal electrode (gold or platinum) alongside a reference electrode, and is temperature-sensitive, so readings should be taken at a constant sample temperature.

The 4EC series is HORIBA's current-generation LAQUAtwin conductivity range, replacing the earlier EC-11, EC-22 and EC-33. It accurately measures electrical conductivity (EC) — a direct indicator of dissolved salts and nutrient concentration — from a 0.12ml sample, with a third low-range calibration standard added for better accuracy across the full measurement range.

Ecotao stocks the current HORIBA LAQUAtwin range locally, including the 4EC and 4ECSalt models that replace the earlier EC and SALT-11 meters most South African labs and farms were originally sold. If you're replacing a discontinued EC-11, EC-22, EC-33 or SALT-11 unit, or a broken sensor on an existing meter, the 4-series models above are the direct drop-in successors — same sample volume and form factor, with an added low-range calibration standard for better accuracy.
